{Down on the Farm} by Doodlebug Designs

Two months.
Eight weeks and one day.
57 days.

That is how long my beloved Juki sewing machine was in the shop for. When I dropped her off it was only supposed to be "see you later" for three weeks. But between two hurricanes, the repair shop got behind (and rightfully so) and I did not get my baby back until YESTERDAY!!! I had a back up machine, but it could not even compare to that stitch per minute number!

The first thing to hit my machine was the most perfect print by Doodlebug Designs. We live in the country. I have cows for neighbors, goats in my back yard, horses to the right, and I can throw a rock from my front yard into a cotton field. So, when I saw the {Down on the Farm} collection I was immediately obsessed!

First, I HAVE to mention all the fun colors found in this collection. All the bright happy colors put a smile on my face every time I look at it! Narrowing down which two prints I wanted to use was so hard. But, ultimately I knew that my oldest needed some Down on the Farm Chickens Blue in her life.

The Chicken Blue is a small print with the most adorable chickens and baby chicks on it. If I am being honest, the baby chicks sold me immediately.

When picking a coordinating fabric I decided to "fence" my flock of chickens in with a perfect yellow chicken wire print (not sure if I am funny or lame on that one lol). Down on the Farm Chicken Wire comes in three different colors: red, yellow, and white. I decided to order yellow because I wanted those perfect little chicks to POP, and I definitely think that they did.

Since I just got my nice machine back yesterday, I knew I needed a super quick pattern to use, but I did not want to sacrifice my vision. Simple Life Pattern Company's Catalina came in clutch! The elastic back makes for a super fast sew (no buttons or snaps, YAY)! For the most part I followed the pattern's directions with the exception of my eyelet around the neckline and my self drafted pockets!

Be sure to get your farm on by checking out your favorite local or online quilt shop to get your favorite prints from Doodlebug Designs' {Down on the Farm} collection!

Lastly, huge THANK YOU to Doodlebug Designs for the opportunity to sew with the adorable Chicken Blue and Chicken Wire Yellow
